General Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Services for Men
Calusa Recovery is proud to offer outpatient and intensive outpatient services at our clinical office, which is just a short drive from our sober living homes.
Outpatient treatment is a step down in structure from full-blown residential treatment. It offers flexibility for those attempting to return to work or school. Our men’s outpatient rehab in Florida has programs that range from 8-16 weeks and tend to phase down in intensity over time. Throughout outpatient treatment, each Calusa client will have a defined schedule of group and individual therapy sessions at our office. This is combined with our experiential treatment program, which provides outdoor adventures as a mode of therapy.
While in our care, clients have various housing options. We believe that a structured environment provides a greater chance of success for long term recovery, and offer sober living homes for those who are interested.
Enjoying Life in Recovery with Experiential “Adventure” Therapy
At Calusa, we are committed to getting outside and enjoying life in recovery. Throughout our program, we use what is called “Experiential Therapy.” This allows us to retreat enjoy the beautiful Florida landscape. Some examples of our favorite activities include:
Is It Possible to Attend an IOP in the Evening?
At Calusa Recovery, we offer three evening sessions between 6 pm and 9 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Assessments are also available by appointment at these times for people who can’t attend during working hours. If you have commitments during the day, our evening IOP lets you continue attending counseling and community activities around your schedule.
What Are General Outpatient Services?
If you’ve been through residential rehab or an IOP, we’d recommend stepping down to general outpatient services. Aftercare is as vital to recovery as the treatment you receive during the acute stages of addiction. General outpatient treatment can also be helpful for people with a mild substance use disorder.
You’ll usually spend around two hours per week taking part in a mixture of individual counseling, group therapy, family therapy and experiential therapy. Outpatient treatment tends to be ongoing for at least a month and can continue for as long as you need it.
What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program?
An IOP is a drug and alcohol treatment plan that helps people with moderate to severe substance use disorders win their battle against addiction. It’s the logical next step down from inpatient treatment but can also be the first step on your pathway to recovery. If you can’t attend residential rehab because of your responsibilities, this type of program provides the same services but lets you sleep at home.
For people whose home environment poses a risk to their sobriety, we’d recommend staying in a sober living facility while you attend an IOP.
During an IOP, you attend a mixture of group meetings, family therapy, experiential therapy and individual counseling sessions five times a week for three hours a day. How many weeks you spend in this level of care depends on your progress, but it will usually be one or two months. When you’re ready, you’ll step down to general outpatient care.
We offer family therapy sessions to include parents, spouses, siblings and children in the recovery process. Continuous family work is necessary for establishing healthy boundaries, as well as protecting and strengthening the long-lasting relationships and support systems that are so essential for addiction recovery success. Our goal is always to heal the loved ones who are suffering along with the client. Family calls and therapy are recommended and encouraged. As an extended care provider, we understand the value in open communication with the client’s support system.
